The registration process for CAT 2026 begins soon after the CAT 2026 notification is released. Thus, registrations would tentatively begin at the start of August 2026. To register, candidates must have a valid email ID and phone number.
Here are the steps to successfully register for CAT 2026.
Step 1: Open the official CAT website and select the New User to register. Fill in the details required and submit to verify the account.
Step 2: An OTP will be sent to the official mail and mobile no. Enter the OTP and verify your account.
Step 3: In the official mail, the candidate will then receive the user ID and password to log into their account.
Step 4: Once logged in, the candidate can fill out all the details, including personal details, academic details, and work experience.
Step 5: The documents will be uploaded during the registration process, including a photograph, signature, and reserved category proof.
Step 6: The candidate must also select their preferred programs and their university of choice.
Step 7: In the application, the student will also be required to select 6 test centers according to their preference.
Step 8: After reviewing the application, the applicant will be required to pay the application fee online.
Step 9: Once the fee is paid, the candidate will receive a confirmation of their registration via mail.
Candidates should have all their documents scanned and ready for upload during registration according to the guidelines. Some of the documents required for the application process are:
- Scanned photograph
- Scanned signature of the candidate
- Academic certificates
- Reservation certification (if applicable)
- PwD certificate (if applicable)
CAT 2026: Application Fee
After the candidate has filled out the application form, uploaded the documents, and checked all their details, they will be directed towards the payment page. The exact application fee will be released according to the CAT 2026 notification. Based on the official notice, the candidate must pay the registration fee within the registration window to successfully submit their application. The mode of application fee payment is through a Credit Card, debit card, or Net Banking.

CAT 2026: Exam Centres
During the registration process, the candidate will be required to choose six test centres in their order of preference. As of 2021, there are 158 test cities. the list will be updated on the official site as the CAT 2026 dates draw near. The aim of the conducting body is to allot the candidates at least one of the preferred locations if possible. The candidates will find their exam center on the admit card.
